Falcons' Drake London Reveals Offensive Identity

Drake London is part of the reason the Atlanta Falcons can pride their offense on versatility.
In this story:

The Atlanta Falcons feature a lot of high-end talent on the offensive side of the ball, as evidenced in the team's past three drafts.

In every draft of the Arthur Smith and general manager Terry Fontenot regime, a skill player has led off the class ... tight end Kyle Pitts in 2021, receiver Drake London in 2022 and running back Bijan Robinson in 2023.

Add that to a group with veterans Cordarrelle Patterson and Jonnu Smith, along with 1,000-yard rusher Tyler Allgeier, and you have yourself a very balanced, versatile offense.

“You’re not going to know where any of us are at,” London said via Josh Kendall of The Athletic. “You’re going to have to try to find us, and we’re going to go out there and play our style of ball, which is aggressive and physical.”

The beauty of the Falcons' offense is that each of these players can line up in different spots.

While London primarily operates on the outside, he can always slide into the slot.

Patterson started his career at receiver, but moved to running back in recent years. Now with Bijan and Allgeier in the fold, he could see more snaps back as a pass-catcher.

Bijan is slated to be the top running back in the offense, but he's previously alluded to lining up at receiver in earlier offseason practices.

Then, the top two tight ends provide potential mismatches. The addition of Jonnu Smith, who has worked with Arthur Smith in the past with the Tennessee Titans, could push Pitts into more of a receiver role. Or, it's possible that Pitts can act as a blocker while Smith operates as the receiving tight end.

The Falcons have multiple ways to gain yards and win games on the offensive side of the ball, and that's the easiest way to help a second-year quarterback like Desmond Ridder succeed.
