BREAKING: Atlanta Falcons Ex Dwight Freeney Elected into Pro Football Hall of Fame
A former Atlanta Falcons legend will have his legacy enshrined in Canton, Ohio, forever as Dwight Freeney was announced as a member of the 2024 Pro Football Hall of Fame class.
Freeney, a former defensive end, played 16 years in the NFL, one of which was spent as a member of the Falcons. That was the 2016 season, where the Falcons made it to the Super Bowl after an 11-5 regular season before Tom Brady and the New England Patriots overcame the historic 28-3 halftime deficit.
Freeney totaled 10 tackles, four for a loss, three sacks, and 10 quarterback hits in 15 games for the Falcons that season, which would turn out to be his second to last. Freeney even made his impact felt in Super Bowl 51 as he corraled Brady for a sack.
Beyond Freeney's time in Atlanta, the pass-rusher spent his first 11 seasons with the Indianapolis Colts, where he totaled 107.5 of his 125 sacks, 316 of his 350 tackles, and 112 of his 148 quarterback hits. In the process, Freeney even helped the Colts capture a Lombardi Trophy, as they triumphed 29-17 over the Chicago Bears in Super Bowl XLI.

After Indianapolis, Freeney would two seasons in San Diego with the Chargers, before just one with the Arizona Cardinals and Atlanta Falcons, before playing with both the Detroit Lions and Seattle Seahawks in 2017, his final season.
Freeney's 127.5 sacks, seven Pro Bowl selections, and three first-team All-Pro nods have earned him a place in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
