BREAKING: Falcons Sign Saints LB Kaden Elliss in Free Agency
After a successful start to the NFL's legal tampering period, Atlanta Falcons general manager Terry Fontenot isn't done.
According to NFL Network, the Falcons have agreed to terms with New Orleans Saints linebacker Kaden Elliss on a three-year, $21.5 million contract with $11 million guaranteed.
Elliss marks the second former Saints defender to move to Atlanta, joining defensive tackle David Onyemata. Both played under now-Falcons defensive coordinator Ryan Nielsen, formerly the Saints' co-defensive coordinator, last season.
Further, Fontenot spent nearly two decades in New Orleans before joining the Falcons and was on staff when both Onyemata and Elliss were brought in.
Elliss is coming off a career year in which he logged 78 tackles, seven sacks and 10 quarterback hits with 11 starts in 17 appearances.
Drafted in the seventh round out of Idaho in 2019, Elliss played in just three games as a rookie before seeing action in 15 contests the season after, but logged only five total defensive snaps, largely making his way on special teams.
Elliss took a step forward in 2021, playing just under 25 percent of New Orleans' defensive snaps and recording his first career sack - but he broke out under Nielsen's guidance this past season.
Now, Elliss is set to follow Nielsen - and the Falcons will be hoping the results do the same.
