Falcons' Grady Jarrett 'Confident' Entering Training Camp
Today the Atlanta Falcons begin training camp, and if defensive tackle Grady Jarrett's words represent, then you better believe that they'll be doing so with confidence.
"With us being who we are, nobody's going to crown us anything," Jarrett said. "So, we've got to go put the work in, day in and day out, take it day by day. But I'm confident in the work that we're putting in that we'll put out a good product."
Last season the Falcons came up just short of winning the highly competitive NFC South Division, but this offseason, they've made moves that indicate they're looking to pick up off of the two-game win streak they ended last season on.
Trading for high-end talent like former first-round cornerback Jeff Okudah and signing All-Pro safety Jessie Bates III should improve their defense, especially in the secondary from day one.
On the other side of the ball, Atlanta invested a top 10 pick in a skill position player in the NFL Draft for the third straight season when they added running back Bijan Robinson with the No. 8 overall pick to their trio of playmakers on offense that also features tight end Kyle Pitts and wide receiver Drake London.
As the team begins training camp, Falcons fans will get to see whether or the offseason was long enough time for their second-year quarterback Desmond Ridder, to fully acclimate with the playbook so he can continue on the upward trajectory he ended his rookie year on when he went 2-2 in his four starts to close out the season.
It's an exciting time to be an Atlanta fan, just as it is for all NFL fans at this time of year, football is back, and everyone believes they have a chance to win it all as we roll into training camp, but only time will tell if Jarrett's confidence was warranted.
