Falcons Hiring Coach Jim Harbaugh? Here's Why It Makes Sense
The Atlanta Falcons announced this week that they had interviewed Michigan Wolverines head coach Jim Harbaugh for their head coaching position, and that's a move that could make a lot of sense in the ATL.
Harbaugh has obviously been successful at the college ranks, having just claimed a national championship with the Wolverines, but before that, he was also no stranger to success in the NFL, despite an unceremonious end with the San Francisco 49ers.
The 60-year-old brother of Baltimore Ravens coach John Harbaugh has been in the coaching business since 2002, and he has served on multiple collegiate and NFL staffs, most recently at his alma mater of Michigan. As a college head coach, he has an all-time record of 144-52 (including a mark of 86-25 with the Wolverines). That's all fine and good, but what about the NFL?
Oh, he's only gone 49-22-1 and 5-3 in the playoffs with a Super Bowl appearance.
ESPN Predicts Falcons Coach: Belichick Or The Field?
Harbaugh is one of the hottest names in the coaching industry this offseason, and for good reason. His success speaks for itself at all levels, and if the Falcons are wanting to be serious in finding their replacement for Arthur Smith, he is one of a handful of candidates who would fit that bill.
Harbaugh is not originally from the South, but winning translates to all areas of the country, and he is certainly no stranger to that.
