Atlanta Falcons quarterback Desmond Ridder put his team on the board with a rushing touchdown against the Houston Texans.

The Atlanta Falcons were in need of a fast start in Sunday's game against the Houston Texans inside Mercedes-Benz Stadium ... and ultimately delivered.

Despite going three-and-out on its first offensive possession before the defense allowed a Texans field goal, Atlanta responded, as quarterback Desmond Ridder led a seven-play, 75-yard touchdown drive.

Ridder completed all three of his pass attempts for 32 total yards and then took it himself in the redzone, finding paydirt on a seven-yard rushing touchdown.

During his last two games - both losses in which the Falcons have been outscored 43-13 - Ridder has gone 40 of 69 for 392 yards, one touchdown, three turnovers and has been sacked 11 times.

Slow starts were features in each game, as Atlanta mustered three total first half points and entered Sunday with only 19 total such points this season.

Ridder's rushing touchdown was only the Falcons' third first half touchdown of the season and the first since Week 2 against the Green Bay Packers.

Through three offensive drives, Ridder, who's 4-0 at home in his professional career, has been sharp, completing four of six passes for 51 yards.

The 24-year-old Ridder faced questions about his job security throughout the week after a difficult performance last Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars during which he tossed two interceptions, one of which was a pick-six, and lost a fumble on a sack. Atlanta was also shutout in the opening 30 minutes.

But this Sunday's proving to be a different story - and the Falcons are certainly hoping it's only the beginning.
