Kirk Cousins Sets Goal to 'Elevate' Falcons Teamamtes

New Atlanta Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins is more concerned with helping the players around him than with personal accolades.

Kirk Cousins is quite the accomplished NFL player with four career Pro Bowl selections, but as the veteran quarterback joins the Atlanta Falcons, he has more than just personal goals in mind.

In what could possibly be the final chapter of his NFL career, the 36-year-old Cousins wants to spread the love to his teammates. In a video posted on the Falcons' social media pages, Cousins shared his goal of elevating the Falcons' skill players to help them earn the recognition they deserve.

"I want to elevate those around me, that's what leaders do. If these guys can do it on their own, then they don't need a leader," Cousins said. "And so, I want to be here as a way to serve my teammates and help elevate their games.

"It would be a great honor for me to look around and see that multiple players on our offense and finishing the year going to Pro Bowls and being All-Pros and being decorated and recognized at the end of the year. That would mean that, as a quarterback, I'm doing my job and helping elevate their careers, and that's really the goal."

Cousins will have a solid set of weapons to work with in Atlanta between running back Bijan Robinson, tight end Kyle Pitts and a revamped receiver corps led by 2022 first-round pick Drake London. All of those players have shown flashes before, but inconsistent quarterback play held them back from their true potential. With Cousins being a significant upgrade over those who came before him, the Falcons' skill players could be in for breakout performances.

Cousins may be entering the latter stages of his career, but make no mistake, there's nowhere else he'd rather be.

New Falcons TE Woerner Excited to Join Hometown Team

"I want to retire a Falcon, you know that would really be my goal, would be to finish so strong. We've spent six of my offseason living in Atlanta, so this has really become home away from home for us, while we played for other teams. So we're really familiar with the Metropolitan area and it's a great fit for us and our family and we cannot wait to get to work."
