Falcons, Lamar Jackson 'Blockbuster'? Analyst Predicts Ravens Trade Haul

The Atlanta Falcons continue to be heavily linked to Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson amidst growing speculation of a potential trade.
In this story:

Can't stop, won't stop.

That's the story of the Atlanta Falcons' perceived interest in Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, whose contract negotiations have stalled and experts around the NFL believe could be on the move.

Jackson, the league's Most Valuable Player in 2019 and a two-time Pro Bowler, missed the final five games of the regular season as well as Baltimore's one and only playoff game due to a knee injury.

However, if Jackson becomes available, he's expected to be in high demand - and the Falcons have been consistently mentioned among the top suitors.

That trend only continued in CBS Sports' latest mock draft, as the Falcons acquired Jackson ... for a pretty heavy haul that includes this year's No. 8 overall selection.

"The (Ravens) move Jackson in a blockbuster with the Falcons and are still able to land Stroud inside the top 10," CBS Sports writes. "More brilliant GM'ing from Eric DeCosta. In the deal, the Ravens get this selection, 2024 first-round and second-round picks from Atlanta along with 2025 second-round and fourth-round picks."

It's the second consecutive year the Falcons are expected to be in the market for a star quarterback, as they pursued now-Cleveland Browns signal caller Deshaun Watson last offseason but lost out in the end.

Falcons coach Arthur Smith is a well-documented supporter of Jackson, dating back to some praise he dished on the 26-year-old ahead of Atlanta's Week 16 matchup in Baltimore.

"Lamar is on a different level," Smith admitted. "Unless you are playing him, he’s one of the most exciting players to watch. He’s an electric football player. There is only one Lamar Jackson."

And now, as the link between Jackson and the Falcons strengthens, the possibility that Smith shares the sideline with the former All-Pro only grows.
