Former Falcons QB Michael Vick Headlines 2024 College Football HOF Ballot
Former Atlanta Falcons Pro Bowl quarterback Michael Vick is among the notable players vying for induction into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2024.
Earlier this week, the National Football Foundation unveiled the Hall of Fame ballot, which features an impressive list of 78 players and nine coaches from the FBS level, as well as 101 players and 32 coaches from the divisional ranks. Notably, Vick, joins All-Pro wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald and two-time Super Bowl champion defensive end Terrell Suggs as prominent names headlining the ballot.
Before being selected as the No. 1 overall pick by the Falcons in the 2001 NFL Draft, Vick showcased his exceptional talent during his two seasons (1999-2000) at Virginia Tech under the guidance of head coach Frank Beamer.
During the 1999 season, Vick's exceptional skills and performances as a redshirt freshman led to a third-place finish in the Heisman Trophy voting. His contributions were pivotal in Virginia Tech's undefeated 11-0 regular season record. The team's journey reached its pinnacle in the 2000 BCS National Championship game against Florida State, where Virginia Tech faced a tough defeat, with the Seminoles prevailing 46-29.
Vick showcased his dual-threat ability throughout his two-year tenure as Virginia Tech's starting quarterback, accumulating 3,299 passing yards and 21 touchdowns. Additionally, his dynamic running power led to 1,299 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns.
Looking ahead, the selection of the 2024 Hall of Fame class will be entrusted to the National Football Foundation's Honors Court, with the official announcement scheduled for January. Subsequently, the inductees will be honored in the Atlanta-based Hall of Fame the following December.
