Falcons Ex Mohamed Sanu Open to Reunion?

Former Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Mohamed Sanu spent four seasons with the team before being traded in 2019, but could a reunion be on the horizon?

The Atlanta Falcons have addressed needs across the board this offseason.

From signing big name free agents, to its six NFL Draft selections including first-round pick Bijan Robinson, Atlanta has been deemed a "matchup nightmare," entering the 2023 season.

But could general manager Terry Fontenot take it a step further by signing former wide receiver Mohamed Sanu?

Sanu, who spent four seasons in Atlanta before being traded midway through 2019, recently tweeted the possibility to a reunion.

"Couldn't agree more," Sanu tweeted in response to a fan's suggestion of a return to the Falcons.

Over his four seasons in Atlanta, the now 33-year-old averaged 47.3 receiving yards per game while catching over 71 percent of his targets.

Sanu's best season came in 2018 where he was Matt Ryan's second-favorite option behind Jones - finishing with a career-high 838 yards and four touchdowns.

The veteran wideout has bounced around the league since his final game for the Falcons, suiting up for the New England Patriots, Detroit Lions and San Francisco 49ers since 2019. Sanu appeared in training camp with the Miami Dolphins last year but was cut before the start of the season.

With 136 career games under his belt, Sanu would instantly become the Falcons' most-experienced wide receiver in a room consisting of London, Miller, KhaDarel Hodge, Mack Hollins and Jared Bernhardt.
