Falcons Offense 'Extremely Promising' if Desmond Ridder Delivers

Desmond Ridder holds the key to make the Atlanta Falcons a great offense.
In this story:

The Atlanta Falcons' plan since Terry Fontenot became the general manager in 2021 has run smoothly so far.

First step ... eliminate bad contracts. That's been done with the departures of Julio Jones, Matt Ryan and Deion Jones among others.

Second step ... draft offensive players with high picks. Atlanta has spent its first selection in each of the past three years on skill players Kyle Pitts, Drake London and Bijan Robinson.

"The Falcons' past three drafts have started with extremely promising, talented players at the offensive skill positions," ESPN writes. "If nothing else, they should be a lot of fun to watch. And if Desmond Ridder can play quarterback at an NFL-starter level, he has plenty of help around him. Coach Arthur Smith is the right guy to bring it all together on offense -- again, assuming they have the right quarterback."

Third step ... spend the money saved on those bad contracts on the defensive side of the ball.

The Falcons are looking to build a defensive core through free agency and an offensive one through the draft. While the veteran defense will help Atlanta, it will come down to the offense to determine how successful the Falcons will be this season.

Because the Falcons spent such high picks on skill players, the finger will be pointed at 2022 third-round pick Ridder if blame needs to be given.

Ridder showed enough of a flash in the pan to get him the inside track to start for this season, but he's yet to prove that he can be a consistent winner in the NFL.

If he can deliver, he has enough talent around him to take the Falcons to the playoffs ... and maybe beyond?
