Falcons Interested in Eagles' Haason Reddick? Insider Reveals Two Trade Destinations

With edge rusher still being a need, the Atlanta Falcons could pursue a trade for current Philadelphia Eagles pass-rusher Haason Reddick.

For the second straight offseason the Atlanta Falcons spent big in free agency. After heavily upgrading their defense a year ago, they focused on their offense this go-around, as they signed quarterback Kirk Cousins and several play-makers, including Darnell Mooney, among others. However, they have yet to address their needs defensively this offseason.

With just $2.6 million in remaining cap space, according to projections from OverTheCap, it looks unlikely that the Falcons will be able to add more veterans to the roster, at least without creating room. However, that won't stop the Falcons from potentially pursuing a trade for current Philadelphia Eagles pass-rusher Haason Reddick, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.

"The expectation leaguewide is that he is moved at some point. The Eagles went and spent on Bryce Huff, they re-signed Josh Sweat, so they have their two pass rushers. Reddick appears to be the odd man out," Fowler said of Reddick in a recent appearance on ESPN's SportsCenter. "He does want a new deal, but this is a premier guy that should have value. ... Arizona could be a team to watch because Jonathan Gannon was with him two years ago in Philly. They had good production together. Arizona needs pass rushers. Atlanta to an extent, so there should be teams in the mix."

Despite making a name for himself as one of the top pass-rushers in Philadelphia over the past two seasons, Reddick was reportedly permitted to start seeking a trade away from the Eagles back in February. After accumulating 27 sacks and 49 quarterback hits in two seasons, he'd surely be a welcomed addition to the Falcons defense.

After ranking near the bottom of the league in sacks in 2022, last offseason's free agent spending spree saw the Falcons' sack total improve. After the additions of Bud Dupree, Calais Campbell, and David Oneyemata, the Falcons finished last season with 42, which doubled from what they had the year before.

However, two of those additions, Campbell and Dupree, have yet to re-sign with the Falcons. Campbell, 37, is even openly considering retirement after finishing his 15th season in the league with 6.5 sacks. If neither Campbell nor Dupree opt to return for another season in Atlanta, it'd certainly make sense to pursue a trade for Reddick.

He is 29 years old, which makes him younger than Campbell and Dupree, and could be considered an upgrade. Yet, the big question surrounding a potential trade for Reddick with the Falcons would be cap space and, obviously, the Eagles' asking price.

The Falcons would not only have to take on Reddick's $6.9 million cap hit this season but also negotiate a lucrative long-term contract extension with him, something that the Eagles are seemingly unwilling to do.
