NFL Trade Rumors: Eagles WR Quez Watkins to Falcons?
After losing last season's starting wide receiver Olamide Zaccheaus to the Philadelphia Eagles in free agency, the Atlanta Falcons are still in the market for a replacement pass catcher ... and it could result in a receiver swap between the two teams.
By signing the former Falcons receiver, the Eagles are ultimately moving 2020 sixth-round pick Quez Watkins to wideout No. 4 behind A.J Brown, DeVonta Smith and Zaccheaus ... which brings the potential of a Watkins to Atlanta trade a real possibility.
According to CBS Sports, Atlanta is one of three teams that could be in the mix for the Southern Miss product, along with the Los Angeles Chargers and Tennessee Titans.
"After a solid 2021 season in his first year under Nick Sirianni (43 catches, 647 yards), Watkins' speed didn't match his production as the No. 3 behind A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith during the Eagles' Super Bowl bid," CBS Sports writes. "His iffy hands could convince hyperactive GM Howie Roseman to offload him ahead of a contract year, saving an immediate $2.7M."
After ranking 29th in the league in total receiving yards last season, Atlanta signed Mack Hollins and Scotty Miller in free agency, but the addition of Watkins would add much needed depth to the group.
And as somebody who has proven his ability to be a viable pass catching option, this "explosive" Atlanta offense could be a potential destination.
