NFL Draft: Falcons Reuniting Desmond Ridder With College Teammate?
The Atlanta Falcons surprised many fans watching the NFL Draft on Thursday when they selected Texas product Bijan Robinson with the No. 8 pick.
However, Atlanta could target another offensive weapon for quarterback Desmond Ridder on Day 2, and one he is familiar with over their time at the University of Cincinnati is wide receiver Tyler Scott.
"If the Falcons are in the market for a slot-type receiver on Day 2, reuniting Scott with quarterback Desmond Ridder might be the answer," The Athletic writes. "Scott is Brugler’s No. 7 wide receiver and No. 48 overall player. He’s quick out of his breaks and has 4.37 speed that could make him the deep threat Atlanta’s passing game doesn’t have now that Damiere Byrd has signed with the Panthers."
Scott, a 5-11 wideout who spent three seasons for the Bearcats, was one of Ridder's favorite targets in 2021, ranking second on the team in receiving yards (520) to go along with 30 receptions and five touchdowns.
"Tyler Scott is one of the fastest receiver prospects in recent memory, giving him high upside as a dangerous playmaker," SI Draft Bible writes. "He uses this speed to not only blow by DBs in single coverage but to seamlessly outrun defenders after the catch. There were several occasions where he did not even have to interact with a defender in front of him, as he has the ability to just run around them."
Ranking as the tenth best available receiver on Day 2, it is a possibility for Scott to fall into the third round and reunite with his collegiate signal caller.
