Falcons WR Drake London Receives Special Honor at USC: 'It's Surreal'
Prior to Drake London becoming one of the NFL's most promising young receivers with the Atlanta Falcons, he made a name for himself as a college superstar during his time at USC.
Recently, he returned to his alma mater to receive a plaque on USC's All-American Walk.
The walkway from the John McKay Center to USC's practice fields serves as a pathway that showcases the Trojans' rich football history. It is a constant reminder for current players of the high standard they must uphold.
London discussed how the daily sight of the walkway served as motivation for him.
"It's surreal," London said. "Just coming out here every day for practice and just seeing this wall grow as my career continued here and then you want to be something great when you get here so you can be part of this wall and I just set my goals and got them."
London tallied 2,153 yards and 15 touchdowns over his three seasons at USC. His most remarkable performance came during his junior year, where he accumulated 1,084 yards and seven touchdowns. Unfortunately, his chances of winning the 2021 Biletnikoff Award, which honors the nation's top receiver, were hampered by an ankle injury.
Despite his limited game time, London's exceptional talent garnered him recognition. He was chosen for the FWAA All-American Second Team and the AP All-American Third Team. Additionally, Pro Football Focus named him a first-team All-American, as he received the highest receiving grade ever awarded to a Pac-12 player since the outlet began grading college players in 2014.
As London prepares for his second NFL season, he will play a crucial role in helping the Falcons reach the postseason for the first time since 2017.
