Former Atlanta Falcons receiver Roddy White is not happy with the way the Denver Broncos have treated recently-benched quarterback Russell Wilson.

The Denver Broncos were the top story in the NFL on Wednesday, as they announced that they are benching quarterback Russell Wilson for the final two games of the season.

Whether the decision came due to Wilson's play or so the Broncos can preserve financial flexibility this offseason, it likely ends a two-year run in Denver for the former Seattle Seahawks star. Speculation has arisen over where Wilson could go next, with the Atlanta Falcons being a popular destination, but that will be settled in the offseason.

After the news broke, former Falcons receiver Roddy White took to social media to vent, calling out Broncos coach Sean Payton for his "disrespectful" treatment of Wilson.

"I can’t believe Sean Payton the disrespect is way too much," White tweeted. "Russ should never have to backup no damn [Jarrett] Stidham everybody in football know he can’t play. If you don’t want Russ just wait until the end of the season to move on. Terrible a** Sean Payton calling them terrible plays."

Over the course of the season, Payton has been spotted lambasting Wilson on the sideline. The most recent incident took place in a blowout loss to the Detroit Lions on Dec. 16, when the Broncos couldn't punch it into the end zone after a controversial call against them.

Payton, who previously coached the New Orleans Saints for 15 years before going to Denver, has long been criticized for his abrasive coaching style, and this situation is just the latest example of said style. Others have taken the same stance as White, such as former NFL players and current ESPN analysts Robert Griffin III and Damien Woody.

Seeing as Payton was the coach of the Falcons' biggest rival for so long, it hardly seems like White needed another reason to dislike him, but he certainly found one.
