Younghoe Koo Reveals How Bijan Robinson Landed Falcons No. 7 Jersey
When the Atlanta Falcons unveiled the jersey numbers for their 2023 draft class, one assignment surprised fans: rookie running back Bijan Robinson being issued the iconic No. 7.
The number carries tremendous significance in Falcons' history, as it was famously donned by legendary quarterback Michael Vick.
For the past four seasons however, it was the jersey number of Pro Bowl kicker Younghoe Koo. The announcement of Robinson being assigned the coveted No. 7 jersey left fans pondering how he managed to convince Koo to part ways with the number.
"Bijan actually FaceTimed me and I was like 'yeah, of course you can have it.' We'll figure out something - I was like 'you don't have to pay me, a choice of your charity, we'll give it away,' something like that. I didn't pay for it, so it's all good," Koo said.
Since his arrival as a free agent in 2019, following a release from the New England Patriots and a stint on their practice squad, Koo has been a paragon of excellence for the Falcons. Consistently delivering exceptional performances, he has established himself as a cornerstone of the team's special teams unit. Koo's outstanding on-field contributions proved instrumental in securing a well-deserved five-year extension during the previous offseason.
As Robinson embraces this symbolic No. 7 jersey, all eyes are now fixated on him, eagerly awaiting his performance on the field. The rookie has an opportunity to captivate the city once again, as Vick did for so many years, and etch his own remarkable legacy in Falcons history.
