Rumor: Falcons Target Bill Belichick Spotted Boarding Arthur Blank's Yacht
The Atlanta Falcons are entering the second week of their coaching search, and apparently, beginning said week with a bang.
Allegedly, former New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick was spotted boarding a yacht belonging to Falcons owner Arthur Blank, dubbed the dreAMBoat in reference to his initials, on Sunday. Belichick has been commonly linked to Falcons even before parting ways with the Patriots on Thursday, and if this rumor is true, it would add even more fuel to the raging fire.
According to Fox Sports, the Falcons are heavily favored to be Belichick's next destination with +150 odds as of Sunday.
Some prominent figures have also chimed in on the Belichick-to-Atlanta rumors recently. Former Patriots star Rob Gronkowski gave perhaps the most obvious hint, claiming that the Falcons are "coming in hot" on Fox's pregame show Sunday. Meanwhile, former Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan gave his own opinion on the matter on CBS this weekend.
Belichick 'Likes' Falcons? Or 'Is Coach 'Using' Atlanta for Hiring Leverage?
“I think Bill Belichick makes sense if they get a veteran guy,” Ryan said. “I think if you’re drafting young, I think you go with a younger coach, someone that’s going to be there longer. But if you’re going to take a veteran guy, I think he makes sense in Atlanta.”
The Falcons have assembled quite the list of coaching candidates, and while it's arguable whether or not Belichick would be the best fit, he would certainly be the splashiest hire of the bunch.
