Falcons Sign Seventh-Round Draft Pick Jovaughn Gwyn: Contract Details
The Atlanta Falcons have officially signed three of their six selections from the 2023 NFL Draft.
Prior to the start of rookie minicamp, the Falcons announced that they've signed seventh-round pick Jovaughn Gwyn to his first professional contract.
According to OverTheCap, Gwyn's four-year deal is estimated to be worth up to $3.945 million with $105,828 fully guaranteed and comes with a cap hit of $750,000 in 2023.
The 6-2, 297-pound Gwyn was a four-year starter at left guard for South Carolina, and the Falcons believe he can play both guard and center as a professional. He earned second-team All-SEC honors this past season
Gwyn, 24, joins first-round running back Bijan Robinson and seventh-round safety DeMarcco Hellams as Falcons draftees who've officially signed their contracts, leaving second-round offensive lineman Matthew Bergeron, third-round defensive end Zach Harrison and fourth-round cornerback Clark Phillips III as the only three left unsigned.
A two-time team captain, four-time academic honor roll member and reigning South Carolina Outstanding Student-Athlete award winner, Gwyn has an impressive resume that speaks to his character and commitment - and Falcons coach Arthur Smith believes he has the intangibles needed to make an impact in the NFL.
"He's a productive guy," Smith said. "He was a leader in that building, a leader on that line. There's nothing fake about him. Obviously a little undersized, but you talk about a guy that you consistently see finish over and over again ... that's a guy that, you know exactly what you're bringing into this building."
And now, Gwyn is officially under contract and in the building as half of Atlanta's draft class has put pen to paper.
