'Major Chip On Their Shoulder!' Falcons' Bijan Robinson Scouting Report on Defense
The Atlanta Falcons had a bad defense in 2022. Ranking 25th in passing, 23rd in rushing and 27th in total yards allowed, games were lost because the team just couldn't get stops.
Naturally, this offseason was about rebuilding the struggling unit, and additions like Jessie Bates III, Calais Campbell and rookie Zach Harrison have paved the way for a defense that running back Bijan Robinson is gushing over.
"The defense is looking good. That’s all I can say," Robinson told Fansided. "I haven’t been here in the past, but I know that this year ... they are coming in with a major chip on their shoulder and they understand who they are as players and the skin that they got in it.”
Though this is the first NFL defense Robinson has competed against, his words of encouragement go a long way. From a loaded college resume to the maturity he's already shown in Atlanta, you don't have to take his words as if they lack merit. Robinson went as far as singling out individual Falcons who've made an impact on his early growth as a pro.
"I’m happy about it because every day, they make me better as a player. You know, you’ve got A.J. (Terrell), you’ve got so many guys on that defense that are just always consistently trying to make you better as an offensive player. That’s why I enjoy that defense a lot, especially like Grady (Jarrett), you know, he’s always there," Robinson said.
From the hype around QB Desmond Ridder to the three-headed running back room that Robinson will help spearhead, the Falcons' offense believes it will take care of itself. And if the defense is as good as Robinson's scouting report suggests, this team has a serious shot to win the NFC South.
