Week 2 vs. Green Bay Packers (25-24 win): Throwback black tops, white pants, throwback red helmets
Week 3 at Detroit Lions (20-6 loss): White tops, black pants, black helmets
Week 4 at Jacksonville Jaguars (23-7 loss): White tops, white pants, black helmets
Week 5 at Houston Texans (21-19 win): Black tops, black pants, black helmets
Week 6 vs. Washington Commanders (24-16 loss): Throwback black tops, white pants, throwback red helmets
Week 7 vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (16-13 win): Black tops, white pants, black helmets
The Falcons will take a backseat in the uniform matchup this week, as the Titans will wear their iconic Oilers throwbacks.
While there's no debate about whether the Oilers throwbacks are clean, there is some frustration in Houston that the Titans gets to wear these uniforms. The Oilers called Houston home from their inception in 1960 to 1996, before moving to Nashville in 1997. They kept the name Oilers for their first two seasons in Tennessee, before rebranding as the Titans in 1999.
The Titans do technically own the history of the Oilers, but there are understandably some in Houston -- including future Hall of Famer J.J. Watt -- that believe the Texans, an expansion team granted to the city in 2002, should have inherited the history of the city's first franchise.
"I just know, having lived in Houston for 10 years and the people there and the connection that they have to Earl Campbell, to Warren Moon, to these guys that wore those, to Billy "White Shoes" [Johnson]," Watt said. "These guys that wore those uniforms and what that meant when they played at the Astrodome. It hurts to not have been able to wear those in Houston and it hurts to see them being worn somewhere else."
