Panthers vs. Falcons Week 1 GAMEDAY: How to Watch, Betting Odds
The Atlanta Falcons will host the Carolina Panthers in a game that will usher in a new era for the Panthers. The Bryce Young era begins in Carolina as the No. 1 overall pick from April's NFL Draft takes the field against the Falcons. And while there's far less talk about Atlanta quarterback Desmond Ridder, hopes are also high as he enters his first full season as the starter.
It's also the beginning of the Frank Reich era as he takes over as head coach in Carolina after five seasons in Indianapolis. While many firsts will come for Young this season, he's focused solely on Week 1.
“I'm not a huge long-term guy,” Young said. “It’s never just straight up. There’s going to be ups and downs.”
For Ridder, while no longer a rookie, he takes over the team as the starter for the first time after leading the Falcons to a 2-2 record in the final four games last season. “I've prepared for this moment and where I need to be,” he said.
The two teams have followed similar paths recently, as neither has had a winning record or made the playoffs since 2017. But with new coaches and new starting quarterbacks, things might be looking up in the NFC South.
