Falcons vs. Lions GAMEDAY Week 3: How to Watch, Betting Odds
The Atlanta Falcons take on the Detroit Lions today in a matchup between two teams with long postseason droughts.
Atlanta's last trip to the postseason was in 2017, when it lost to the Eagles in the Divisional Round, while Detroit last made the playoffs in 2016, losing in the Wild Card Round.
The Lions have only made the playoffs 17 times in their 94-year history, and have never appeared in a Super Bowl. But this season feels different for Detroit fans after a strong finish last year.
Both teams enter the game 1-1. That's somewhat of a disappointing start for the Lions after an opening-week win over the Chiefs and a surprising home loss to the Seahawks.
Atlanta has posted wins over the Panthers and Packers to begin the season. Rookie running back Bijan Robinson has started his NFL career hot after a pair of impressive performances, including a 124-yard effort against the Packers.
Detroit has its own rookie back who's looking to make a name for himself early in the season in Jahmyr Gibbs. In the young season, Gibbs has registered 14 carries for 59 yards and nine catches for an additional 57 yards. Gibbs should have ample opportunities to prove himself against Atlanta with David Montgomery suffering from a thigh bruise.
