Falcons WATCH: Rookie QB Desmond Ridder Throws First TD Pass vs. Buccaneers

Atlanta Falcons rookie quarterback Desmond Ridder has thrown his first career touchdown pass in Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Atlanta Falcons rookie quarterback Desmond Ridder is checking off a major career milestone in Sunday afternoon's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Ridder has thrown his first NFL touchdown pass, a two-yard completion on 3rd and Goal, to tight end MyCole Pruitt, capping off a nine-play, 91-yard drive. Here's a look at the play ...

Through his first three career starts, Ridder went 54 of 85 for 484 yards but no touchdowns. But now, he's checked that box - and done so against a division rival led by Tom Brady under center.

Ridder's touchdown pass against puts him at two of five for 28 yards against Tampa Bay, but both of his completions came on third down in Atlanta's second drive, leading to the score.

Ridder, 23, was selected in the third round of April's draft, arriving in Atlanta as the American Athletic Conference's all-time leader in total yards (12,418) and Cincinnati Bearcats program leader in touchdown passes (87).

He still has a long way to go to reach that mark with the Falcons but is off to a solid start as he looks to assert himself as Atlanta's future under center.

The Falcons are tied with the Buccaneers at 7-7 with 3:22 left to play in the first quarter.
