Falcons WR Drake London Praises 'Electric' RB Bijan Robinson

The Atlanta Falcons offense could be filled with fireworks if No. 8 picks Drake London and Bijan Robinson live up to the team's lofty expectations.

For the second straight season, the Atlanta Falcons invested the No. 8 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft in an elite offensive weapon, selecting former Texas running back Bijan Robinson, and he’s already impressing teammates.

Wide receiver Drake London, who the Falcons selected in 2022, recently went on Good Morning Football and spoke highly about how Robinson has looked since joining Atlanta.

“He’s been amazing... He’s humbled, hard-working, doesn’t really talk too much, but he gets the job done,” London said. “He’s an electric back, and we’re excited to use him in all aspects of the field.”

While the running back position has seemingly been devalued in recent years, what makes Robinson such a unique prospect is his potential as a three-down workhorse.

Players such as Indianapolis Colts’ Jonathan Taylor have found success as rushers in recent years despite not being first-round picks. However, he’s essentially limited to just that, a rushing threat that’s never caught more than 40 passes in a season because he isn’t a natural pass catcher.

Robinson, on the other hand, is the most well-rounded running back prospect since Saquon Barkley entered the league in 2018, hence why he’s the first rusher since him to be selected in the top 10. Being an adept pass catcher means that even if Robinson faces a stout run defense, he can still be a factor in the offense through the receiving game, unlike Taylor.

Suppose Robinson can burst onto the scene as a rookie and catch over 90 passes as Barkley did when he entered the league. In that case, young quarterback Desmond Ridder and Atlanta's passing offense as a whole should improve drastically after ranking No. 31 in passing yards last season. Based on London’s praise, Robinson is already showing flashes of what could make him Offensive Rookie of The Year by season’s end.
