The Atlanta Falcons used to be a thorn in Cam Newton's side throughout his career with the Carolina Panthers, but now he may be looking to join his former rival.

On "Good Morning Football," Newton said he would be open to returning to the NFL under one condition -- he play with the Falcons.

Former wide receiver Brandon Marshall asked Newton to give his top three teams he would want to play for if he returned to the league, but the former MVP shortened that list to one.

"It's always been about family, and I don't see myself leaving Atlanta," Newton said. "So if it's not Atlanta, I don't want it."

Newton went to Westlake High School in Atlanta and currently lives there. He has five children.

Marshall then joked about a possible reunion between Newton and his former coach with the New England Patriots, Bill Belichick.

Belichick has interviewed for the Falcons open coaching job, and Atlanta is likely going to be searching for a new quarterback in 2023. But chances are, even if Belichick does get the job, Newton won't be under center.

Newton, 34, hasn't played in the NFL since 2021, where he returned midseason for a struggling Panthers team. In five starts, Newton was winless as the Panthers finished 5-12 on the season.

While it's a fun idea in theory, it's far from practical and very unlikely.
