Daniel Jones's Neck Injury Believed to Be Less Severe Than One in 2021 Per Report

Jones is to have an MRI on his neck injured in Sunday's 31-16 loss to the Miami Dolphins.

New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones is scheduled to have an MRI on his ailing neck, injured in Sudnay's 31-16 loss to the Miami Dolphins when linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel sacked him in the second half.

Jones, who was immediately ruled out with a neck injury after being brought down to the ground on his sixth sack of the day, underwent an X-ray on his neck, which came back negative.

However, Jones, who normally brushes off any soreness or physical discomfort he might be feeling after a game, was more open with his physical state following his latest beating, telling reporters, "I think I’m certainly in some pain."

While Jones didn't want to speculate if his injury was on par with the one that cost him the final six games of the 2021 NFL season, not at least until he had the MRI and et with doctors, NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport said on Monday morning's Good Morning Football broadcast that Jones's latest neck injury is not believed to be as significant as the one he had in 2021.

Again, nothing is definite until Jones has his MRI and the doctors review the film. Giants head coach Brian Daboll is scheduled to speak to the media around 1:15 p.m., so the team may have a more definitive update on Jones's status at that time.

That said, it's probably not a stretch to predict Jones will miss Sunday night's game against the Buffalo Bills if it's determined that any further blows to the area behind what's been a historically bad offensive line might make the injury worse.
