Giants Coaches Heap Praise on Bills QB Josh Allen

New York will try to slow down the Josh Allen band the Buffalo Bills offense this weekend.

New York Giants defensive coordinator Wink Martindale never fails to come through on the quote sheet.

The gregarious defensive-minded coach has regaled Giats reporters this year with his witty comparisons of opposing players, and this week, he probably delivered his most imaginative comparison yet when asked whom Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen reminds him of.

"Alright, you ready?" Martindale responded to the lead question posed to him during his weekly press briefing.

"(Miami Hall of Fame Quarterback Dan) Marino’s arm, (Titans running back Derrick) Henry’s legs, and (Golden State Warriors player Stephen) Curry’s mindset. He thinks he can hit it anywhere on the court, and that’s the same way Josh is. He’s just an unbelievably elite quarterback in finding extra time to hit the open receiver in tight windows, and he’s got one of the strongest arms in the league."

Martindale wasn't the only one to heap praise on Allen. Head coach Brian Daboll, who worked with Allen as his offensive coordinator in Buffalo, also did so.

New York Giants Week 6: Examining the Buffalo Bills Offense

"Josh Allen is an unbelievable player, one of the best in the league," he said. "You can put him in probably any offense, and he will produce. You know, I missed him as a person; we are close, but as a player, he’s a heck of a player. Put on any tape, he’s exceptional at everything.

"He can run, but he can throw it, and he can throw it wherever he needs to throw it, 80 yards down the field, drop a dime, on the move to the right, put it back across his body, scramble, back up, scramble around, throw it out, throw it on time. ... He’s one of the best in the league. And he makes you better as a play-caller, too, so he’s one of a kind."

Allen is currently ranked third on NFL.com's latest quarterback ranking. In five games, he has completed 73.1 percent of his passes for 1,407 yards (8.0 yards per pass attempt) and has 11 touchdowns to 5 interceptions.

Allen has also rushed for 120 yards with three rushing touchdowns and two fumbles this season.
