Follow along with us as we chronicle the New York Giants' Week 5 game against the Seattle Seahawks.

Fourth Quarter

:17 - And that will do it. Lawrence sacks Smith and the Giants get out of Seattle with an upset and their most impressive showing of the season. NYG 29, SEA 20

:55 - Giants' DL D.J. Davidson sacks Smith for -13 yards.

1:05 - Wow! Isaiah Simmons blocks a game-tying field goal by jumping into the gap . Bryce Ford-Wheaton then returned it for a touchdown. Huge play! NYG 29, SEA 20.

  • INJURY UPDATE: Seahawks LB Derick Hall is questionable (foot).

1:40 - Smith gets the Seahawks into Giants territory after Smith scrambles for 32 yards.

1:55 -Giants fail to get a first down and the Seahawks are alive.

2:13 - Touchdown Seahawks. Smith hits Jaxson Smith-Njigba for the 5-yard score which slives the Giants' lead to three. Why didn't the Giants call a timeout there to slow down the Seahawks though before that play?

4:03 - Kayvon Thibodeaux looked like he had the wind knocked out of him on this 9-yard pass to Metcalf.

6:05 - Wow, what a punt by Jamie Gillan. 59 yrds and downed at the Seahawks 5-yard line by Dane Belton.

STAT CHECK: Giants have two players on offense over 100 yards today. Slayton (receiving) and Tray (rushing). Bfar the best effort this unit has put forth this season.

9:47 - SACK! Kayvon Thibodeaux and Dexter Lawrence split the team's fifth sack of the day, this one for a 10-yard loss.

9:51 - Giants nearly had an interception there as Brian Burns tipped a pass intended for Zach Charbonnet. Unfortuantely DJ Davidson was not in the right position to come down with the ball.

11:57 - Joseph hits a 24-yard field goal, but I sure wish they had punched that into the end zone for seven with the PAT. NYG 23, SEA 13

14:13 - Boom! Brian Burns drops Geno Smith for a loss of seven on fourth down deep in their own territory. If Giants don't score on this drive, then it will be a shock.

Third Quarter

:49 - Giants take a seven point lead on Greg Joseph's 31-yard field goal. NYG 20, SEA 13

  • INJURY UPDATE: Seahawks LB Uchenna Nwosu will not return to the game (thigh).

In case anyone is wondering where Jalin Hyatt has been in this game...

6:38 - Jason Myers hits his second field goal of the day, this one from 48 yards. NYG 17, SEA 13

7:58 - Seahawks are working out of the no huddle but D.J. Davidson sacks Geno Smith for a four-yard loss.

10:47 - Boom! Jones hits Slayton for a 30-yard touchdown. Giants and Hawks have now converted each other's turnovers into points. Slayton now has over 100 yards receiving. NYG 17, SEA 10

12:11 - Jones hits Slayton for 41 yards but then gets flagged for making a gunlike signal even though it was his attempt to signal a first down. You'd think these players would learn by now, right?

12:17 - Fumble! DK Metcalf has the ball punched out by Deonte Banks at the Giants' 21-yard line. Tyler Nubin recovers. Giants ball!

13:23 - Smith hits Tyler Lockett for 33 yards.

13:36 - Giants go three and out to start the third quarter as Wan'Dale Robinson can't hold onto a pass.

Halftime

  • Giants have converted 4 of 8 tries on third down; Seattle is one of four on third down.
  • Daniel Jones is 14 of 18 for 145 yards and one touchdown. He's been sacked once.
  • Giants have 225 total yards of offense to Seattle's 90.
  • Giants leading receiver is running bakc Eric Gray (three receptions on three targets for 50 yards).

Second Quarter

:00 Halftime

:06 - Jason Myers ties it up with a 43 -yard field goal. NYG 10 - SEA 10.

:14 - Adoree Jackson called for defensive pass interference, but the Seahawks declined it after Geno Smith hit Tyler Lockett for 28 yards.

:22 - Geno Smith hits Kenneth Walker for 17 yards. The Seahawks are driving.

:25 - Giants take the lead on a 38-yard field goal by Greg Joseph. NYG 10 - SEA 7.

:29 - And another dropped pass by the Giants, this one by Wan'Dale Robinson. That's 11 drops on the year for the Giants, second msot int he league.

2:00 - Two-minute warning. For the most part, the Giants offense has looked good. The defense is also doing a bit more blitzing in this game.

2:30 - The Giants with a flea-flicker. Jones hits Johnson for 6 yards.

  • INJURY ALERT: Seahawks CB Tariq Woolen was slow to get up and was scorted by team medical personnel to the medical tent.

6:22 - SACK! Dexter Lawrence drops Geno Smith for minus six yards to force a punt.

9:15 - Hey! A red zone touchdown! Jones connects with Wan'Dale Robinson for the 7-yard score, cappig an impressive scoring drive. That's the Giants first touchdown in seven quarters. All tied up. NYG 7 - SEA 7

9:53 - Jones with an 11-yard carry. Maybe it's just me, but I don't like his leaning into contact. Would prefer to see him slide before he takes a shot that knocks him out.

10:36 - Hey, another pass to the tight end. Theo Johnson picks up 22 yards as the Giants enter the dead, er red zone.

12: 33 - Daniel Jones has jsut rushed for the fifth time today and now has 2,000 rushing yards in his career. Pretty amazing staf (and a sad one if you think about it.

13:46 - Giants defnse force a three-and-out but Smith-Marsette loses two yards on the punt return.

First Quarter

0:00 - And the Giants go three-and-out as the first quarter comes to an end. SEA 7 - NYG 0

2:33 - Red Zone = Dead Zone for the Giants. Eric Gray was stopped short of the end zone on 4th-and-1, fumbled the ball, and Rayshawn Jenkins returned it 102 yards for a touchdown. Unbelievable. SEA 7 - NYG 0

And not for nothing, but why was only one Giant player chasing down Jenkins? Terrible job there by the Giants. Wasted a 16-play drive.

3:15 - Giants go with a sixth OL (Ezeudu) but the Giants get stopped. 4th-and-goal from the 1-yard line.

4:00 - Jones with the keeper but is stopped 1-yard shy of the end zone.

7:04 - Slayton drops a pass. His third one of the year. Gotta catch that one. (And yes I know he has a brace on his right thumb.)

9:40 - Hey look! A pass to the tight end! Theo Johnson open over the middle and picks up 12.

10:54 - Joes with a screen pass to Eric Gray, who picks up the first down. Nice run by Gray to get the first down. They then follow that up with a similar play with similar results.

12:15 - Ugh! Jones is tripped up for minus ten yards by Andrew Thomas's man and fumbles the ball. Fortuantely, Thomas recovers it.

15:00 - Seattle starts with two straight passes to Metclaf who is being covered by Deonte Banks.
