Andrew Thomas, Evan Neal Among Giants' Week 8 Inactives
New York Giants left tackle Andrew Thomas (hamstring/DOUBTFUL) is still not ready to return to action from his injury, even though he was able to practice on a limited basis this week. As such, he is on the Giants' inactive list for their game against the Jets, joining quarterback Daniel Jones (neck/OUT).
Thomas, injured in the Giants regular-season opener against Dallas, hasn't been able to practice since before the team's Week 4 game. Back then, he made it through the start of practice before suffering a setback and needing to be shut down. He's since been unable to practice until this week, when he returned on a limited basis and had his workload increased each day after being evaluated.
Thomas will likely continue having his workload increased in the coming week and could be back in time for the Giants' Week 9 game against the Las Vegas Raiders if he continues to progress.
Report: Daniel Jones Could Be Back By Week 10
In some good news, the Giants are getting center John Michael Schmitz (shoulder/QUESTIONABLE) back after a three-game absence. Tight end Darren Waller (hamstring/QUESTIONABLE), cornerback Adoree' Jackson (neck/QUESTIONABLE), and outside linebacker Kayvon Thibodeaux (knee/QUESTIONABLE) are also active this week.
With Schmitz returning, Ben Bredeson will move to left guard, next to Justin Pugh, who will get his second straight start at left tackle with Thomas out. Rounding out the offensive line are Mark Glowinski and Tyre Phillips, the latter of whom will step in again for Evan Neal (ankle/QUESTIONABLE), who will miss his second straight game.
The remaining Giants' inactive list includes running back Deon Jackson, defensive back Bobby McCain, defensive back Gervarrius Owens, and defensive lineman Jordon Riley.
The Jets inactive list includes offensive lineman Joe Tippman (quad/OUT), receiver Irv Charles (shoulder/DOUBTFUL), receiver Randall Cobb (shoulder/QUESTIONABLE), defensive lineman Carl Lawson, running back Israel Abanikanda, linebacker Zaire Barnes, and defensive back Jarrick Bernard-Converse.
