The New York Giants trail the Miami Dolphins 17-10 at the half, but the Giants are making a game of this thanks to their defense.

Safety Jason Pinnock returned a Tua Tagovailoa pass tipped by inside linebacker Bobby Okereke 102 yards to give the Giants their first touchdown of the first half of any game. Pinnock's return tied a Giants franchise mark set in 1961 by Erich Barnes against the Dallas Cowboys.

The Giants offense continues its season-long struggles, mustering up just 125 yards to Miami's 326 yards in the first half. Miami scored on their opening drive, a 2-yard touchdown pass from Tagovailoa to Jaylen Waddle.

They added to their scoring total with a 76-yard rush by Devon Achane to make it 14-0 before capping the first-half scoring with a 40-yard field goal by kicker Jason Bailey.

The Giants had a chance to get on the board early, but kicker Graham Gano missed a 55-yard field goal attempt, his third miss of the season. But Gano rebounded with a 49-yarder in the second quarter ahead of Pinnock's big interception.

Giants outside linebacker Kayvi Thibodeaux posted a sack for six yards in the first half. Safety Xavier McKinney led the team with seven tackles and one pass breakup.

On offense, quarterback Daniel Jones was 10 of 13 for 96 yards, having completed balls to six different receivers, including three to Wan'Dale Robinson in addition to the four to Waller.

Waller (four catches out of six pass targets for 49 yards) is the Giants' leading receiver. Running back Eric Gray, in his first offensive snaps this season, led the rushing attack with eight carries for 23 yards.

Offensively, the pass protection has not been good as the offensive line has been forced into more shuffling Marcus McKethan (knee) was injured in the first half.
