Giants vs Jets: How to Watch, Odds, History and More

Let’s take a look at the Giants Week 8 matchup against the Jets.

The New York Giants are coming off a much-needed win last week against the Commanders. The score ended up being 14-7, a low-scoring event after what appeared to be higher given the Giants’ rhythm late in the first half. However, a win is a win, and the Giants beat a division rival, something they’ve had trouble doing in recent years.

Tyrod Taylor, who started his second straight game in Daniel Jones’ absence, went 18/29 for 279 yards and two touchdowns. Speaking of touchdowns, the Giants finally ended their drought last week, with Darren Waller catching his first score in blue. Saquon Barkley had the other touchdown, a 32-yard catch-and-run for his third score of the year.

The Giants' defense is starting to become a force. They compiled six sacks against a weak Commanders offensive line. Dexter Lawrence (2) and Kayvon Thibodeaux (1.5) led the team, with other players such as Leonard Williams, Jason Pinnock, and Micah McFadden adding sacks of their own. Rookie cornerback Deonte Banks also snatched his first career interception, continuing a solid start to his career.

The Giants and Jets meet on Sunday, which is slated to be a big matchup for both teams. The Jets are coming off of their bye week, but before that stunned the Eagles 20-14.

Like the Giants, the Jets defense is the highlight of their team. The offense is nothing special. Zach Wilson has been at the helm since Aaron Rodgers ruptured his Achilles in Week 1.

The Giants and Jets both have just four passing touchdowns each, with the Giants having six interceptions and the Jets with five. The Jets have the least passing yards in the league, with 1,097. Both teams are six yards apart in rushing yards, with the Jets at 705 and the Giants at 699, and both also have three rushing touchdowns.

This is shaping up to be the ultimate defensive game. Both teams have uber-talented defensive lines, stellar linebacker play, and solid secondaries. This is a big matchup for the Giants, as they can potentially continue to mount a comeback from a slow start to the season.
