The New York Giants have confirmed they've agrees to terms with free agent running back Dante Miller, pending a physical.

Miller, 5-9 and 200 pounds, played his college ball at South Carolina and, before that, at Columbia University. He's appeared in 32 career games with seven starts, and has 1,319 rushing yards on 264 carries with six touchdowns.

In his first season at Columbia, he played in six games with one start before suffering a season-ending injury during a game vs. Dartmouth (October 20). Prior to that, Miller was twice named "Ivy League Rookie of the Week" (September 17 and October 8), finishing with 339 all-purpose yards. His 83-yard run ranked as the longest run in school history for a first-year and the sixth longest run in school history.

His path to the NFL took an unsual turn thanks to a miscalculation by South Carolina’s compliance department. Technically he should have been eligible for last year's draft and supplemental draft, but thanks to the confusion, Miller's status was in limbo.

He was eligible to participate in South Carolina's pro day last month, where he impressed scouts with his speed and measurables, including a 4.27 40-yard dash time. Because of the snafu in college eligibility, it was determined that Miler was not eligible this year for the draft or the upcoming supplemental draft and, hence, was free to sign as a free agent with the team of his choice.

Miller is eligible to begin the Giants' off-season program that opens April 15 once he signs his contract.
