The New York Giants added veteran depth to their defensive back room by agreeing to terms with former Commanders defender Bobby McCain on a one-year deal, reportedly for the veteran minimum.

The 29-year-old McCain entered the league in 2015 as a fifth-round pick by the Dolphins out of Memphis. He spent the last two seasons with the Commanders, mainly as a safety, and has a 99.3 career NFL coverage rating.

McCain, 5-foot-9 and 196 pounds has appeared in 121 games with 87 starts and has recorded 393 tackles, 11 interceptions (one for a touchdown), 44 pass breakups, and two forced fumbles. He has also been durable, playing every game for the last three seasons and missing only nine games in his pro career.

He provides veteran depth at a position where the Giants recently lost Julian Love to the Seahawks.
