Giants Planning to Add Veteran O-line Help

That, plus some practice squad moves.

The New York Giants, perhaps having reached maximum desperation regarding their tattered offensive line, are planning to sign OL Yodny Cajuste to their practice squad, pending the outcome of a physical.

Cajuste is a former 2019 third-round pick of the Patriots who has made five career starts. The Patriots cut Cajuste in May, and he was picked up by the Jets. However, he was waived/injured during training camp. He had a workout for the Giants earlier in the year.

New York is also reportedly planning to work out offensive tackle La'El Collins, who is visiting the Jets first. Collins signed with the Cowboys in 2015 as an undrafted free agent, spending six seasons with them. Last year, Collins, who has started 86 of the 89 games in which he's appeared during regular season play, was with the Bengals after signing a three-year contract.

Collins ended up on the non-football injury (NFI) list with a back injury at the start of training camp but was able to contribute to start the season. He then suffered a torn left ACL and MCL in a Week 16 game against the Patriots, ending his 2022 season early.

Collins started the 2023 campaign on the reserve/PUP list while he continued rehab from his knee injury but was released on September 12.

The Giants also released cornerback Amani Oruwariye and receiver Cam Sims from their practice squad and designated receiver Cole Beasley for return from practice squad-IR. The second opening is presuable for one of the offensive tackles.
