Giants Re-sign Punter Jamie Gillan, LS Casey Kreiter
The New York Giants have agreed to terms with punter Jamie Gillan on a two-year deal worth up to $5 million and with long-snapper Casey Kreiter on a one-year deal.
Gillan's contract base is worth $4 million with an additional $1 million in incentives, which, per the current NFL CBA, would include gross and net averages (based on 40 punts) and the number of punts placed inside the 20-yard line.
The 26-year-old Gillan, a left-footed punter, had his share of ups and downs last season despite averaging a career-high 46.8 yards and a net of 40.2, the second-highest net in his career.
His touchback percentage of 12.2 was a career-low, and he struggled with pooch punts and pinning opponents inside of the 10-yard line. In fairness, he also lacked a dynamic gunner on the punt coverage team. But there's no denying that Gillan has a powerful leg.
Gillan began his career with the Browns before landing with the Bills practice squad before joining the Giants in 2022.
Gillan also served as the Giants' holder for place-kicks.
Kreiter has been with the Giants since 2020, playing on one-year deals. A 2018 Pro Bowler while with the Broncos, Kreiter has one special teams tackle since joining the Giants.
