Giants Signing Receiver Cole Beasley
With the start of training camp just days away, the New York Giants are signing wide receiver Cole Beasley to a contract.
Beasley, 5-foot-8 and 174 pounds is a 12-year veteran who spent his first seven seasons with the Dallas Cowboys. He then spent the 2019-2021 seasons with the Buffalo Bills, whose offensive coordinator at the time was Giants head coach Brian Daboll.
Last season, Beasley split his time with the Bills and the Bucs. He announced his retirement after the 2022 season but had a change of heart and will return for a 13th NFL season. The Giants had reportedly tried to sign Beasley last season after losing Sterling Shepard and Wan'Dale Robinson to season-ending knee injuries but didn't have any luck.
Beasley, primarily a slot receiver, has appeared in 153 regular-season games with 51 starts. He's caught 556 passes out of 782 targets for 5,744 yards and 34 touchdowns.
His best season professionally came in 2020, playing for Daboll and the Bills. That year he recorded career-highs in receiving yards (967) and receptions (82) in 15 games. He would go on to match his reception total in 2021.
Beasley has played 86.4 percent of his snaps in the slot and has a 50 percent contested catch rate. His addition to the roster likely means that Shepard and Robinson will be among those who open training camp on the PUP list.
