Darren Waller Added to Giants' Final Injury Report
The New York Giants added tight end Darren Waller to their final injury report. Waller, who last year with the Raiders missed seven games with a hamstring injury that landed him on injured reserve, is listed as having a hamstring issue by the Giants. After being limited in Friday's practice, he received a "Questionable" injury designation.
The Giants are counting on Waller to be a big part of their offense this season. The team will see how he responds to treatment the rest of Friday into Saturday, and Waller will likely be a game-time decision.
Also receiving a questionable designation for the Giants are linebacker Cam Brown (ankle) and defensive tackle D.J. Davidson (knee). Defensive backs Cor'Dale Flott (hamstring) and Gervarrius Owens (hamstring) and receiver Wan'Dale Robinson (knee) were listed as doubtful.
Of the Giants injured, Owens, Flott, Robinson, and Davidson are all likely to be among the inactives. Robinson and Davidson came off the PUP list late in training camp, and it was always anticipated that neither would be ready for the regular-season opener.
All the Giants listed on the injury report practiced on a limited basis, including two--running back Gary Brightwell (knee) and tight end Lawrence Cager (ankle)--who did not receive injury designations.
With Waller ailing, don't be surprised if one of Ryan Jones or Tyree Jackson are elevated from the practice squad for the game. With Flott also ailing, Amani Oruwariye could be in consideration for the other practice squad elevation, as he can also give the Giants snaps on special teams.
