Giants Activate Wan'Dale Robinson Off PUP
Second-year New York Giants receiver Wan'Dale Robinson, who has been on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list since the start of camp, has been activated after passing his physical, the team announced.
Robinson tore his ACL in a Week 11 loss to the Detroit Lions last season and was placed on injured reserve. He spent the entire off-season and summer rehabbing his knee, landing on the PUP list for training camp.
Robinson, whom general manager Joe Schoen said was getting close to a return about two weeks before the end of the preseason period, had been spotted running on a side field under the watchful eye of a trainer, looking no worse for the wear nien months after his injury, as he tried sprints and some cutting. That display was the first running done by the receiver in front of reporters.
Robinson was a bit of a surprise selection by the Giants in the second round of the 2022 draft. He initially missed four of the Giants' first five games last season due to a knee injury. He then appeared in six games with three starts, racking up 227 yards and a touchdown, including his first 100-yard receiving game (against the Lions) before his rookie season ended.
With Robinson activated, the Giants' projected receiver group is likely to be Parris Campbell, Isaiah Hodgins, Darius Slayton, Robinson, Jalin Hyatt, and Sterling Shepard. That would leave Cole Beasley, Jamison Crowder, Kalil Pimpleton, and David Sills V on the outside looking in, though it wouldn't be a surprise if Beasley and Sills land on the practice squad.
The Giants open their 2023 regular-season schedule at home against the Dallas Cowboys on September 10.
