New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen apparently isn't done with free agency just yet.

With the Giants having used up the bulk of their available cap space, Schoen  converted $9.835 million of newly acquired tight end Darren Waller's 2023 base salary ($11 million) into a signing bonus, thus opening $7.376 million in cap space to give the team an estimated $8.204 million to make additional moves.

The restructure adds approximately $1.967 million per year to the remainder of Waller's contract and lowers his 2023 cap figure to just a hair over $4 million.

Prior to the restructure, the Giants could have gotten out of the deal with no dead money if they decided to move on from him at any point, but this restructure now deposits dead money into their cap if they terminate the deal early.
