Giants Assistant Coach Craig Fitzgerald to Depart Team

Fitzgerald is headed back to the college ranks.

According to Florida Gators beat writer Jacob Rudner, New York Giants assistant coach Craig Fitzgerald is reportedly leaving the team at the end of the year to head up the University of Florida's strength and conditioning program.

Fitzgerald, according to Rudnger, will replace Gators director of football strength and conditioning Mark Hocke, who will take on a different role i head coach Billy Napier's program.

Fitzgerald served as the Giants' director of strength and performance, a role he held since 2020 under then-head coach Joe Judge. Fitzgerald had previously been at the University of Tennessee, the Giants' job being his first in the NFL.

With the Giants, Fitzgerald had been a part of a two-person S&C team, along with Sam Coad, the team's director of performance/assistant strength and conditioning coach.

Fitzgerald, a veteran of more than 25 years coaching experiece, is the second known Giants assistant coach to be headed elsewhere after this season. Running backs coach Jeff Nixon, who is finishing his first season with New York, is reportedly headed to Syracuse University to become their offensive coordinator.

The New York Giants visit the Philadelphia Eagles on Christmas Day, the first of two meetings to close the season over the next three weeks.
