Giants Host Workouts for Prospective Reserve/Futures Signings
With the end of the season just three weeks away for those teams not expected to be in the postseason, clubs such as the New York Giants have continued to step up their efforts in developing a short list of players that they plan to sign to reserve/future contracts the day after the 2023 regular season ends.
The Giants, who have held weekly workouts since the start of the season, most recently hosted a group that, per The Athletic via the daily NFL transaction wire, includes receiver Michael Jefferson, offensive lineman Jordan Roos, and cornerbacks Thomas Graham and Chris Jackson.
Jefferson, 6-foot-4 and 199 pounds, played his college ball at Louisiana. His NFL aspirations were sidetracked when he was involved in an April 9 car accident in Alabama that claimed the life of a 55-year-old man.
Jefferson finished with 51 receptions, 810 receiving yards, and seven touchdowns in five seasons at Louisiana.
Roos, 6-foot-3 and 302 pounds, is an interior offensive lineman who played his college ball at Perdue. He originally signed with the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent in 2017, making the initial 53-man roster.
The following season, he was waived by Seattle and landed on their practice squad. He remained with Seattle until the 2020 off-season, going on to have stints with the Raiders, Patriots, and Titans, the latter of whom he started three games last season.
Graham, 5-foot-11 and 197 pounds, played his college football at Oregon. He was initially selected in the sixth round of the 2021 draft by the Bears, with whom he was through part of 2022 before removing on to the Browns. Graham was waived/injured (ankle) by the Browns on August 4, 2023, and landed on injured reserve. He was later released from IR on November 28.
Jackson, 5-foot-10 and 193 pounds played his college ball at Marshall, where he earned first-team All-Conference USA after recording 25 tackles with one interception and 11 pass breakups in his senior campaign. He finished his collegiate career with 189 total tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, seven interceptions, 45 passes defensed, and two fumble recoveries in 47 games.
Jackson, who can play cornerback in the slot and safety, was chosen by the Titans in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL draft. He spent two seasons with Tennessee, adding on IR (knee) on November 23, 2021.
