Giants Injury Update: Saquon Barkley Jogs, Does Change of Direction Drills

Saquon Barkley won't play this weekend, but he's already doing some jogging in what's a VERY promising development.

Giants running back Saquon Barkley is still going to miss multiple weeks as he recovers from a high ankle sprain suffered in the Week 3 win over the Bucs.

However, the Giants' offensive captain, who is determined to return well before that four- to eight-week time frame projected for his full recovery, is not only is out of his walking boot and off his crutches, he was also doing some jogging and change of direction drills on a nearby field while his teammates practiced Wednesday.

In other early injury news, linebacker Alec Ogletree (hamstring) worked on the side doing some light movement under the watchful eye of a trainer. Ogletree's injury is believed to be one that will keep him out multiple weeks.

Fellow linebackers Tae Davis (concussion) and Lorenzo Carter (neck) look like they're going to at least be limited.

Davis is still in the concussion protocol and is still wearing the yellow "no-contact" jersey in practice.

Carter was with his position group and looked like he was going to be able to do at least part of his reps.

Right guard Kevin Zeitler was not in full pads. Zeitler has been nursing a sore shoulder, but he is not expected to miss Sunday's game.

Cornerback Sam Beal, currently on the injured reserve list with a hamstring ailment, is doing some running in what's a good sign for his potential return to the roster after Week 6.

NFL rules permit every team to designate two players per year for return from injured reserve provided the layers were initially on the 53-man roster coming out of training camp.

The Giants haven't used any of their designations yet, but it's believed that Beal will get one of the two designations.
