The New York Giants have been busy this off-season, adding free agents and acquisitions to the team. But all those additions have cost them cap space, pushing them down to a league-low $1,998,303 of total cap space as of the start of Thursday.

As expected, the Giants dipped into their top-heavy contracts to open up more space. According to Field Yates of ESPN, New York restructured defensive lineman Dexter Lawrence's deal by converting $10 million of his $16 million 2024 base salary into a signing bonus to open up $7.5 million in 2024 cap space.

Assuming the Giants didn't add a voidable year to his deal to further thin out the converted money, the $10 million prorates to an additional $2.5 million per year added to Lawrence's future cap numbers. His original prorated signing bonus number was $4.634 million, so the $2.5 additional would drive that up to just over $7.1 million.

The restructure also lowers Lawrence's 2024 cap hit to approximately $14.575 million.
