The New York Giants are reportedly bringing in former New England Patriots offensive tackle Yodny Cajuste for a visit, a day after Cajuste has a scheduled visit with the Jets.

Cajuste has only played right tackle for the Patriots since he was drafted in 2019, but he was an all-conference left tackle while playing under Dana Holgorsen at West Virginia. His physical profile should allow him to play on either side at the next level, especially when the expectation is to be a depth tackle instead of a franchise player. Cajuste should also be able to kick inside to guard if needed.

While Cajuste has technically been in the NFL since 2019, injuries caused him to not be active for a game until his third season in 2021. A quad injury during the offseason kept Cajuste out for his rookie season in 2019, and a knee injury in 2020 cost Cajuste his second season in New England.

Cajuste is a powerful tackle capable of anchoring down and holding his own against even the strongest defensive linemen. In the run game, he needs work with his technique and consistency, but he is physically capable of doing everything that Brian Daboll and Mike Kafka ask of their tackles regarding getting linemen blocking in space.

Cajuste brings an interesting element to the table for whichever team signs him: he’s an NFL veteran in terms of football IQ and being with an NFL team for four seasons, but he’s also only played 278 offensive snaps. Hence, he’s still rather inexperienced in terms of actual game experience.

At this point in the offseason, Cajuste could step in and give the Giants some positional versatility with the players on the roster.
