Janoris Jenkins has been named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week for his Week 4 showing in the Giants 24-3 win over Washington.

Jenkins, an eight-year veteran, was responsible for three of the team’s four interceptions. In addition to the two he got his hands on, he tipped a pass by Case Keenum on the game's third play and tipped the ball in the air, with Giants linebacker Ryan Connelly coming down with the catch.

That turnover set up the Giants' first scoring drive of the game, a six-yard touchdown pass from Daniel Jones to Wayne Gallman to give the Giants a 7-0 lead.

Jenkins became the first Giants cornerback to record two interceptions in a game since last Dec. 2, when linebacker Alec Ogletree picked off two passes against Chicago. Jenkins is the first Giants defensive back to accomplish the feat since cornerback Ross Cockrell did it at Arizona on Dec. 24, 2017.

Jenkins, who now has 20 career interceptions including seven returned for a touchdown, also recorded four tackles (three solo) in Sunday's win.

Jenkins is the second Giants player to win Player of the Week honors this season.

Last week, quarterback Daniel Jones was named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week award winner after throwing for two touchdowns and running for two more in his starting debut.

This is Jenkins' third Player of the Week Award, and his second on defense. He won his first in Week 12 of 2012 with the St. Louis Rams.

His other Player of the Week honors came on special teams in Week 2 of his first season as a Giant (2016) when he returned a blocked field goal 65 yards for a touchdown vs. the Saints.
