The Giants and their star running back get some good news following Barkley's consult with foot and ankle specialist Dr. Robert Anderson.

High ankle sprains can be tricky customers to deal with, but the news is as good as can be for the new York Giants and their star running back Saquon Barkley, who suffered a high ankle sprain in Sunday's win over the Bucs.

Update: Head coach Pat Shurmur confirmed to reporters that Barkley will not need surgery nor will he be placed on injured reserve. While the head coach put no timetable on Barkley's return, that the Giants don't believe they'll need the roster spot for the minimum eight weeks Barkley would otherwise be unavailable suggests the Giants are optimistic they might have their running back sooner.
