Tommy DeVito Wins Second "Rookie of the Week" Honors
The accolades are stacking up higher than the chicken cutlets for New York Giants quarterback Tommy DeVito.
DeVito, the team's rookie quarterback and current NFC Offensive Player of the Week winner, was voted the Pepsi Zero Sugar "Rookie of the Week" for Week 14.
DeVito finished 17-of-21 passes (80.9 percent) for 158 yards, one touchdown, and no interceptions for a passer rating of 113.9, and ran for 71 yards on ten carries (7.1 average) in the Giants' 24-22 win over the Green Bay Packers on Monday Night Football.
DeVito also engineered his first-ever comeback drive, a 57-yard drive spanning 1:33 that resulted in kicker Randy Bullock''s 37-yard, game-winning field goal as time expired. DeVito completed all four of his passing attempts for 53 yards on that drive.
Tommy DeVito Not Fazed by Growing Attention
The Giants are currently riding a three-game winning streak with DeVito, who has finished with a passer rating of 100+ in those contests, at the helm. They are one game out of the NFC Wild Card race ahead of their weekend game with the New Orleans Saints.
DeVito beat out kicker Brandon Aubrey (Dallas), running back Chase Brown (Cincinnati), linebacker Ivan Pace (Minnesota), running back Bijan Robinson (Atlanta), and quarterback Will Levis (Tennessee) for this week's honors.
This is the second "Rookie of the Week" award for DeVito, who won it in Week 11. This is also the third time since Week 11 that a Giants player has won the honors--receiver Jalin Hyatt won it in Week 12 (the Giants had a bye in Week 13).
