Source: Houston Texans Invite Texas A&M-Kingsville Prospect to Local Pro Day
HOUSTON -- The Houston Texans have invited Texas A&M-Kingsville EDGE rusher Ezrah Thibodeaux to its Local Pro Day on Thursday — a source told Texans Daily.
Thibodeaux is a Houston native who played his entire college career for the Javelinas. Since 2019, Thibodeaux has built upon the attributes that have made him an ideal fit to play within coach DeMeco Ryans' SWARM defense.
He has recorded 128 tackles (60 solo hits) and 9.0 sacks across 40 career games. Thibodeaux notched a career-best 16 tackles during the Javelinas' 35-14 victory over Eastern New Mexico on Oct. 21. He recorded five or more tackles in four of his final five games of the 2023 season.
Thibodeaux participated in HCU Pro Day on March 21, where he met several scouts, including the Texans.
"Kingsville is a good place," Thibodeaux said. "A lot of people do not know about it. It is a small school. But once you are there, you will understand why it is so special to the people out there.
"This is something that I want. I will do whatever I can to get this opportunity...My work is going to show. Being at a bigger school, you might have a higher chance. But regardless, these teams are looking for the players who are going to work and show up every day. And that is what we do down in south Texas."
Thibodeaux spent his prep career at Alief Taylor High School in Houston, where he received Second Team All-District. He grew up rooting for the Texans. Despite establishing a football career on the defensive side, his favorite Texan was former All-Pro running back Arian Foster.
"Having a chance to play in front of the hometown would be a dream come true," Thibodeaux said. "I like what coach DeMeco is doing with the defense. The Texans are making a run, and I would love to add to that."
