Jaguars Injury Update Following Win Over Lions

Despite a preseason win, the Jaguars are leaving Detroit with a lengthy list of injuries.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are leaving Detroit with a 25-7 preseason victory, but that isn't all they are leaving with. They are also taking back a long list of injuries, with most coming along the offense and defensive lines.

The Jaguars saw multiple players leave Saturday's preseason contest, ranging from Cooper Hodges being carted off with a patella injury and Chandler Brewer leaving with a shoulder injury. In addition, reserve center Darryl Williams also sustained a shoulder injury.

On top of all of that ...

  • Rookie right tackle Anton Harrison is dealing with the same shoulder injury that has lingered with him for the last several weeks.
  • Defensive lineman Foley Fatukasi was ruled out earlier in the week and seen with a boot on his foot at practice.
  • Offensive tackle Josh Wells is sidelined for an undisclosed period of time.
  • Antonio Johnson missed the second joint practice with a hamstring injury
  • And veteran offensive lineman Tyler Shatley is still not cleared after experiencing atrial fibrillation earlier in training camp.

But perhaps most important is the apparent injury to starting defensive lineman DaVon Hamilton, who was reportedly seen on crutches on Saturday despite not playing according to Action Sports Jax's Brent Martineau.

"We’ll get MRI’s and x-rays and stuff and probably have a better update tomorrow or the next day with him," Pederson said about Hodges.

"Brewer [OL Chandler Brewer], they were checking him with his left shoulder, possibly a situation there so we’ll see where he’s at. I think he’s going to be okay, but again, we’ll find out after this meeting. For Darryl [OL Darryl Williams], it was his shoulder but he battled through it. He played really well.”

In short, the Jaguars had to rotate through plenty of different offensive line combinations on Saturday and may have to do so again next week vs. the Miami Dolphins.

“Hats off to Phil Rauscher, our offensive line coach. He did a nice job of keeping that mix in there," Pederson said.

"It’s all about preparation, I talk to our guys a lot about the preparation part of it and they do a really good job of coaching those guys up. This is why you see and why we like to have versatility in the offensive line. Tackles need to play guards, guards need to move outside or they got to play left and right. We’re able to do that with some of our offensive line pieces. Those guys did a nice job.”
